Edward Lyon is the sales, customer service and accounting half of the Cool Telecom partnership. The first patent for an electric burglar alarm was issued in 1853 (no. 9,802) to Augustus Pope of Somerville, MA. A shopkeeper and entrepreneur by the name of Edwin Holmes purchased the patent in 1857 and set up a company to install and operate electric burglar alarm systems in Boston. It was Holmes shop where a young Alexander Graham Bell worked on his new invention; the telephone. Over 100 years later it was Ed Lyon, security systems retailer who enabled Mark Mumma, our technology guy to build and perfect the Cool Telecom PBX (aka Cool PBX). Lyon became the first commercial customer of Mumma's VoIP telecommunications solution offered by WebGuy Communications which became the precursor to the Cool Telecom phone system.

Ed Lyon, much like Ed Holmes, has immersed himself in protecting homes and businesses from fire and burglary. In the early 1990's Ed Lyon ran Complete Home Security and was a reseller for AT&T burglary security systems and others. Eventually, however, AT&T Security Systems did away with their channel reseller program and Complete Home Security disbanded shortly thereafter.

At the beginning of 2006 Ed founded Lyon Security, Inc. and began selling Digital Video Surveillance, Security Systems, Access Control and other products and services primarily to businesses. Only a few years later during an office relocation of Lyon Security, Ed purchased the first commercial PBX from Mumma. Lyon was so taken by the system that he entered into a Limited Liability Partnership with Mumma and Cool Telecom, LLP was founded in June 2011.

Ed has been providing security alarms, access control and monitoring for over 25 years. Ed met Mark back when Ed owned and operated Complete Home Security.
