Mark is our head geek. Part Mad Scientist, 100% serial entrepreneur, Mumma discovered broadband telephone service in the mid 2000s and was fascinated by the call quality and cost effectiveness of Internet Telephony. Mumma has been intrigued by telecommunications since he was a small boy growing up in Blackwell, Oklahoma.

Getting his own telephone line in his room at his childhood home at the age of 16, Mumma began a love affair with telecom that has lasted over 30 years. Affordable answering machines came on the scene while Mumma was still a teenager and he bought countless answering machines in the years to come.

Along with the joy of communications came some real world challenges. How to avoid people you do not want to talk to became much easier with the mass availability of Caller ID in the mid eighties. Now it was possible to know who was calling before you answered the phone. In Mumma's mind, Caller ID was the single most important development in telecommunications since Alexander Bell first uttered that famous phrase: "Watson, come here, I want you."

As a small business owner, Mumma continually attempted to streamline and improve his own communications and when VoIP came along he knew that truly efficient and affordable telecommunications for business was inches away. Edward Lyon of Lyon Security, Inc. purchased one of Mumma's first PBX systems for his business. He believed in the system and service concepts of Cool Telecom so much that he formed a Limited Liability Partnership with Mumma in June 2011.
